Child visa (subclass 101)

Among the many types of other visas is a child visa subclass 101 for a child outside Australia who comes to Australia to live with their parents. To understand the sensitivity of this matter, the Australian government has a children’s visa and various sub-clauses permit a child to visit Australia, but certain conditions apply.

Eligibility of Child Visa (subclass 101)

  • Adopted children: The child must be dependent on a parent who is Australian citizen.
  • It can be this age: The child must be either: under 18 years old, or over 18 and under 25 years and studying full time, or over 18 years with a disability.
  • Have no partner: The child can’t be or ever have been married or engaged to be married
    in a de facto relationship.
  • The child and any dependants who apply for the visa with them must meet our health requirement.
  • Have a sponsor: The child must be sponsored by an eligible parent or their parent’s spouse or de facto partner.
  • Applicant must be offshore while applying and at the time of deciding of application of visa 114.
  • Applicant must not have a partner to be eligible for this visa.
  • Age Pension: To receive it, you must be old enough.
  • Dependency on Relative: it is required that applicant must have been dependent on his/her relative for at least 3 years in Australia for basic necessities like those of food, shelter and clothing, to be eligible to apply for this visa.
  • Dependency can be due to some disability also, which prevents the applicant from working.
  • Applicant must meet the Health and Character needs. Family members, applying for the visa must qualify health and character requirements of Australian Government.
  • Family members, even if not migrating to Australia, might also have to qualify character requirements.
  • Obligations:You and your family abide by all laws of Australian Government.
  • Have paid Outstanding debt (if any) to the Australian Government:
    If applicant or any family member of the applicant owe any debt to the Australian.
    Government, it must be paid back or at least have formal arrangements to pay it back.

  • Adopted children: To be granted this visa, an adopted child must have been adopted before they turned 18 by a parent who was not an Australian citizen, permanent resident
  • You will have to apply for and be granted a Resident-Return (RRV) to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.
  • If you become an Australian citizen then you don’t require a visa to enter Australia and can use it to travel and from Australia.
